Baby Boomers were born after World War II became teenagers. In the United States, 50%of the population was under 25. This groups gained emormous cultural power during the 60s. The 60-70’s catered Teenagers spent $3.5 billion on clothing in 1965 alone. The trickle up theory (where fashion trends are started at lower socioeconomic levels and go up to higher socioeconomic levels) was definitely the defining fashion trend theory happening in the late 1950s and 1960s. I think that it is still the most defining - and it started during the 60s.
