Odysseus is shipwrecked and exhausted, lying in a pile of leaves--mostly naked. He ends up in the hands of the Phaecians (aka Scheria) as a beggar--which is what will get him to King Alcinous using the "hospitality" rule. They won't ask questions and will give him food, drink and clothing before demanding his name and reason for being there. This was appropriate so that Odysseus could get help from them to get home. Once they find out who he is, they will help him.
