The Salinas Valley lies along the Salinas River, and the longest underground river in the world, stretching 155 miles. This valley is between the Gabalin Ranges and San Lucia Range and touches parts of Monterey county. In the southern part of California, the rich, irrigated land has earned the name "America's Salad Bowl" as lettuce and other vegatables such as tomatoes, artichokes, broccoli, aculiflower, celery, and spinach are grown in there. Of course, many migrant workers are employed in this fertile valley
